Pre-Weekend Scenester Picks: Zaireeka Party in OP; Samantha Crain/La Guerre at Replay; Longshadows and Migrainz at Frank's

Readers, we're guessing that plenty of you have never experienced the Flaming Lips' Zaireeka (recently reissued on vinyl) as it's meant to be heard, with all four albums spinning simultaneously.  Well, Thursday offers an opportunity to get freaky with a room full of music geeks as Vinyl Renaissance in OP hosts a Zaireeka listening party at 6:00 pm.  The FB event page promises that "Refreshments and strategically placed chairs will be provided."  We assume "refreshments" is code for weed.  Full details here.

The Replay turns the stage over to the ladies on Thursday as La Guerre opens for Samantha Crain.  We caught Crain opening up for William Elliot Whitmore at the Granada not so long ago and had a fine ol' time.  You will too.  And La Guerre has new tunes and is about to embark on a big summer tour in July.  Here's a creepy flyer.

If you prefer your Thursday evening a little more rocking (well, A LOT more rocking) head down to Frank's basement to see a band called Migrainz which features Sean from Muscle Worship and Doug from Major Games.  We're certain it'll make your head hurt (but maybe in a good way).  They'll be opening up for a band called Roman Ships from Sioux Falls, SD and LFK's own Longshadows ("Loud, local, and beautiful").  The FB event page here includes a photo that probably reflects how Frank's basement looks at around 1:30 in the morning:
